The first major fight in the Egghead Island Arc is finally upon us, as Monkey D. Luffy and Rob Lucci fight for the second time. Lucci and the other members enter Egghead Island by force. Lucci is teleported to the Island by S-Bear’s ability. Shaka orders civilians to flee and deploys three Seraphims, S-Hawk, S-Snake, and S-Shark. Sentomaru accompanies the Seraphim. Atlas tries to attack Lucci, but he dodges her attack and uses Rokuogan, knocking her out.
Witnessing the damage Lucci inflicted on Atlas, Luffy prepares to battle against Lucci. This moment has been anticipated by fans for a while. Both Luffy and Lucci have gotten much stronger and awakened their respective Devil Fruit abilities. Everyone warns Lucci against fighting Luffy but Rob ignores them and engages anyway. The animation this episode is phenomenal. The sketchy lines, fluid motion, and dramatic faces make the action a sight to see.
Dr. Vegapunk’s Devil Fruit Theory
While Lucci and Luffy fight the others respond to Luffy’s new appearance. Dr. Vegapunk is the most surprised to see the “white warrior.” When Nami tells them that Luffy ate the Gum Gum Devil Fruit, he fails to recall it in the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia, stating that “no such fruit exists.” Vegapunk marvels a Luffy’s “beauty,” and claims that it was “fate,” that they meet. He reveals what we already know that Luffy is the “God,” Nika.
Dr. Vegapunk’s theory of devil fruits is that they were brought into the world because they were “desired.” He claims that devil fruits are “manifestations of the people’s aspiration for human evolution.” Each power represent the “diverse futures of humanity.” Dr. Vegapunk states that due to the “unnaturalness,” of devil fruit abilities, mother nature and the sea, punishes the users.
Sentomaru death?
Sentomaru is confused. He’s suppose to be an ally of CP0 but when Dr. Vegapunk reveal that their mission is to kill him, Sentomaru is shocked. He still hesitates, but is reminded that Dr. Vegapunk once rescued him from poverty. Owing the old man a favor, Sentomaru sends all four Seraphim after the CP0. Stussy explains to Kaku that there’s a hierarchy for commanding the Seraphim, the Five Elders are at the top, followed by the Vegapunk’s, then Sentomaru, and lastly CP0.
When Lucci gets knocked away, Luffy and Sentomaru meet again. They discuss whether Luffy is going to aid Dr. Vegapunk, when Lucci punches a hole through Sentomaru’s stomach. Without Sentomaru to command them, the Seraphim can return to the command of CP0. I don’t think that Sentomaru is dead, but he’s certainly out of commission for a while. However, I think Luffy is going dominate Lucci, who doesn’t seem to be a challenge for Gear 5 Luffy.
