For this entire series Mahito has been taken sick pleasure in torturing Yuji. After reaching his peak and coming to understand his soul, Mahito is reduced to a blubbering mess. Mahito has been taunting Yuji, claiming that they’re the same, mindless killers (Mahito – humans/Yuji – curses). Yuji couldn’t accept this, until this moment. The entire fight was epic. Mahito had been ignoring Todo, instead focusing on his nemesis Yuji. However, the dynamic duo continue to work effortlessly together. Todo uses Boogie Woogie to switch Yuji and Mahito. He grabs the cursed spirit while Yuji tries to kick Mahito but he decapitates himself, avoiding the hit.
While Yuji and Todo fight the headless torso of Mahito, the head of Mahito his running around and eventually transform into a Mahito with a full body. It’s a surreal scene and a difficult one to describe. Mahito uses his Polymorphic Soul Isomer which combines numerous souls with “weak rejection to create one body.” The transfigured human is extremely strong but with a weak durability. Mahito sends three to distract and kill Todo while he fights Yuji alone.
Mahito’s final form
Despite his many attempts, Mahito fails to separate Yuji and Todo. He instead tries to target Todo’s Boogie Woogie. Mimic the feat accomplished by Gojo earlier, Mahito uses only 0.2 seconds of his Domain Expansion: Self-Embodiment of Perfection and transfigures Todo’s left hand, effectively ending Todo’s Boogie Woogie technique. He then attacks Todo with a Black Flash but Todo manages to limit the damage by concentrating his cursed energy to block. While Mahito didn’t manage to kill Todo, but he did manage to kill off Todo’s curse technique.
Mahito finally reaches his apex, becoming Instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing. While a clear upgrade Mahito’s new form doesn’t appear to be much trouble for Yuji, even though Yuji’s normal punches have no effect. After Yuji’s devastating Black Flash Mahito is reverts back into his original state. Yuji finally admits that he’s “a reflection of Mahito,” like the curse, Yuji doesn’t need to think about killing. He promises to always exorcise curses and specifically Mahito. Despite Mahito’s killing spree and bravado, he’s revealed to be a coward he always was.
Mahito flees from Yuji, who casually follows his prey. It’s a pleasant moment to see someone like Mahito get what’s coming to him. Geto appears and offers to rescue the weaken curse.
