Nobara Kugisaki‘s presence in the Shibuya Arc has been limited. She mostly showed up against Shigemo who beat her badly. Nanami came to her rescue and sent her to the kids table as she simply wasn’t strong enough. I had high hopes for Nobara. I didn’t want her to end up being useless like Sakura from Naruto but I’m afraid she ended up in worst position. I’m a manga reader so I know that Nobara hasn’t officially been killed off but she hasn’t been seen since this arc. I think she have a major comeback at some point but I’m concerned it will never happen.
Like many predicted Nobara was in danger when she encountered Mahito in the alleyway. This version of the special grade is weaker, having no access to his cursed technique. Nobara isn’t the most agile of fighters but manages to dodge Mahito’s attack surprisingly well. Nobara was previously warned of Mahito’s abilities so she prepared a strategy to fool Mahito into thinking she was attack him physically and then use her Resonance technique to use Mahito’s clone as a medium (like the straw doll) to attack the real Mahito. She’s successful, granting Yuji an opportunity to dominate Mahito.
Nobara dies
Yuji wailing on Mahito is just a pleasant sight to see. Nobody deserves a beat down more than Mahito. However, realizing he was in danger from both Nobara and Yuji, Mahito flees to kill Nobara. He’s aims to kill two birds with one stone. If he’s kills Nobara he would have eliminated a threat and caused Yuji even more mental pain. When Yuji witnesses the two Mahito’s running towards each other he assumes they’re trying to merge again. Unfortunately, the real Mahito had other plans. He rushes towards Nobara and slaps her on the left side of her face.
We are treated to a flashback explaining Nobara’s past (a kiss a death in anime). When we return to the present she tells Yuji to let everyone know that she lead a “good,” life before appearing to die. Yuji is devastated (again) as he’s fails to protect another one of his closet friends.
