Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2, Boshaft—The Emperor’s Spirit

Twenty-nine years after Himmel’s death, Frieren and her party arrive in a small town in the Bier Region. They overhear talk of a Dwarf named Fass who has spent the last two centuries searching for a legendary alcohol called Boshaft, said to be the finest spirit in the world. Fass believes he’s finally found it sealed inside ancient ruins after deciphering a stone tablet written in Ancient Elvish. The only problem is the barrier spell on the door, so he asks Frieren to break it.

It takes Frieren three months to unravel the spell. During that time she learns the truth about Boshaft. The elf Milliarde sealed it away after devoting her entire life to something ultimately meaningless. Frieren worries Fass will suffer the same fate. But once the barrier falls and Fass finally tastes Boshaft, he bursts out laughing. He calls the entire town to join him. Even though the drink itself isn’t anything special, Fass says the journey was worth it because he got to share the moment with everyone. Frieren quietly reflects on how humans and dwarves measure the value of time differently than elves do.

Frieren’s search for silver

Thirty years after Himmel’s passing, Frieren’s party travels through the Norm Company Territory. They run into Norm, the company’s president, who presents Frieren with an old promissory note from the Hero Party days. With interest piled on, she can’t pay it back. Norm sentences her to work in the mines for three hundred years.

However, this turns out to be a scheme. Demon attacks have devastated the Northern Plateau’s trade routes, pushing the company to the brink of collapse. Norm needed Frieren’s magic to locate silver ore and save the business. If the company falls, many people in the region would starve. Frieren agrees to help and eventually finds the silver vein. Meanwhile, her party prepares to raid the mine to rescue her, only to discover she resolved the situation on her own. The episode ends with the group reunited and moving on once again.
