Dandadan Episode 6 Recap and Review

Momo and Okarun set out to find Okarun’s missing balls, which Turbo Granny claims are cloaked in a golden aura of her spiritual energy. When they come up empty, Turbo Granny shrugs it off, guessing they’ve been taken by a yokai drawn to their strong life force. Her nonchalant attitude enrages Momo and Okarun, who stomp on her in frustration. Back at Seiko’s place, she offers to gather intel on the situation and warns Okarun to keep Turbo Granny’s power in check.

The next day at school, a male classmate approaches Okarun, asking for an introduction to Momo. When the classmate casually calls her cute, Okarun realizes he agrees but shoves the thought aside, insisting to himself that they’re just friends. The classmate goes on to mention a nasty rumor about Momo spreading around school. Okarun, furious, grabs him by the shirt, demanding to know who started it. His anger inadvertently activates Turbo Granny’s power, terrifying the classmate in the process.

Turbo Granny’s on the loose

Realizing what’s happening, Okarun calms down, apologizes, and quietly takes his seat. That’s when Turbo Granny reveals herself, popping out of his bag with a mischievous grin. She’s been hiding there the whole time and can’t contain her delight after seeing him unleash her power in front of everyone. Panicked, Okarun bolts out of the classroom, desperate to avoid drawing more attention. Out in the hallway, Turbo Granny tries to sweet-talk him into restoring her power, but he stands his ground and refuses. She slinks back into his bag just as Momo shows up.

Okarun braces himself to tell Momo about Turbo Granny but freezes. His classmate’s comment about her being cute has him so flustered he can’t even look her in the eye. Confused and annoyed, Momo chases after him as he awkwardly retreats further and further away. Meanwhile, Turbo Granny seizes the opportunity to slip out and explore the school.

Back in class, Momo’s frustration turns to confusion as she wonders why Okarun is avoiding her. A friend mentions that he stood up for her earlier when another student repeated a nasty rumor about her. Even with this new information, Momo still can’t figure out why he’s acting so weird.

The Aira Shiratori, the World saver

Striding through the hallways, Aira soaks in the admiring glances of her classmates, her confidence unshaken. Even as she revels in the attention, her thoughts drift to Momo—the “demon,” as Aira calls her—a label she clings to ever since witnessing Momo’s psychic powers during that humiliating moment when a washtub landed on her head.

Aira feels a sting of disappointment that the rumor she started about Momo hasn’t gained any traction. Clutching Okarun’s kintama, which she stumbled upon last night, she convinces herself that it’s a destined artifact that will make her the world’s savior.

The previous night, Aira had been drawn to a strange stream of light along the railway, where one of Okarun’s kintama fell directly onto her head. Seeing it as a sign, she claimed the golden orb, declaring herself the chosen one. Back in the present, Aira’s friends arrive with the items she had requested for her grand mission: a Bible and a cross.

When one of them points out how oddly she’s been acting, Aira waves them off and directs their attention to a red-clad woman lurking outside the school. But when her friends insist they don’t see anyone, Aira decides the figure must be Momo’s familiar, sent to spy on her. Panicking, she tries to hide, only to catch the attention of two boys who find her behavior suspicious. Slipping back into her practiced charm, she brushes off their questions while discreetly signaling her friends to regroup after school.

Aira has one of Okarun’s balls

Turbo Granny reveals that she’s been searching the school for the kintama, suspecting that a human might have found it instead of a yokai. If that’s the case, it could give the human the ability to perceive spirits, making them a target. She also mentions a strange woman but decides to share more about her after school.

Aira wonders if she can handle facing both Momo and her familiar. Looking out the window, she sees the woman in red approaching. Later, in the hallway, Aira confronts Momo—the same girl she dropped a washtub on the day before—and asks for a private meeting. Momo agrees, wanting to avoid any drama, and tells Okarun they’ll meet up later. After she leaves, Turbo Granny, hidden in Okarun’s backpack, warns him about the mysterious woman she saw earlier.

Following Aira into an abandoned building, Momo is caught off guard as Aira’s two friends ambush her, handcuffing and restraining her. Aira attempts an exorcism with a cross and Bible, but Momo, annoyed, uses her psychic abilities to shove Aira’s friends away. Seeing Momo’s “demon wings” again, Aira pulls out the kintama to strengthen her exorcism. Momo recognizes it as one of Okarun’s kintama and tries to explain its importance, but Aira refuses to listen. When Okarun rushes in, Momo warns him that Aira has one of his kintama and identifies her as the mysterious woman. Okarun corrects her, explaining that Aira isn’t the mysterious woman but the target. The actual woman appears moments later and snatches Aira away from Momo.

Momo, Aira, and Okarun face “Acrobatic Silky”

After capturing Aira, the mysterious woman declares herself to be her mother. Okarun tries to rescue Aira, channeling Turbo Granny’s power, but the woman effortlessly dodges his attacks with swift, acrobatic movements. As Okarun is about to be devoured, Momo uses her psychic power to pull him from the woman’s mouth, but she’s met with a brutal kick that sends her flying. The woman swallows Okarun whole and reveals to Aira that she has waited over a decade for their reunion, recounting how Aira once recognized her as her mother when she was a child.

Regaining her composure, Momo demands the return of Okarun, reminding the woman of the rules between yokai and humans. However, she’s thrown off guard by Aira’s sudden outburst, calling for them to team up to defeat the demon. It’s then that Turbo Granny, after digging through Muko’s stolen phone, identifies the enemy as “Acrobatic Silky,” a yokai in a red dress notorious for her agility.

The battle begins against Acrobatic Silky

Offended by Aira’s accusation of being a monster, Acrobatic Silky swallows the girl too, turning her anger toward Momo and blaming her for Aira’s words. Desperate, Momo calls on Turbo Granny for help, only to discover the doll is powerless with her energy drained. Acrobatic Silky seizes Momo by the neck with her hair, swinging her violently through the room and demanding she apologize and call her “mother.” Momo refuses and ends up swallowed as well. Inside, Acrobatic Silky laments, crying out for her baby.

Outside, Turbo Granny confronts the yokai, warning her to release the children or face the consequences, citing her own abilities as a maneki-neko doll capable of bringing fortune. True to Turbo Granny’s insight, Momo, now inside Silky, uses Aira’s lighter rosary to set the yokai’s hair ablaze. Silky writhes in pain, spitting out both Momo and Aira. With the group back together, Momo and Okarun prepare for a counterattack against Acrobatic Silky.
