Okarun starts acting off, and Jiji immediately senses the Tsuchinoko is near. He yanks Momo out of harm’s way just in time and realizes the thing can hear movement inside the house. Things get darker fast—Okarun nearly stabs himself with scissors, but Jiji stops him. Hearing Okarun’s suicidal thoughts triggers Jiji’s memory of his parents, especially his mom, who said similar things after he stopped both her and his dad from ending their lives. At the same time, Momo tries to stab herself with a broken shard, but Turbo Granny appears out of nowhere and blocks it—visibly shaken.
Turbo tells Jiji the Tsuchinoko’s putting out psychic waves that mess with people’s minds, pushing them toward suicide. That’s when it clicks for Jiji—this might be what drove his parents over the edge. He asks why he’s unaffected, but before Turbo can answer, Momo turns on him. With no other option, Jiji grabs everyone—Momo, Okarun, and Turbo—and sprints through the twisted layout of houses, dodging Tsuchinoko attacks. He finally bursts outside, comes face-to-face with the Tsuchinoko… and just when he braces for impact, he looks up and sees it—the evil spirit that’s been haunting him, floating right in front of him.
Jiji’s tragic childhood
Jiji spots the evil spirit and notices Momo and Okarun are back to normal. As the spirit turns to face them, Turbo Granny tells them not to make eye contact—this thing’s the “Evil Eye,” a yokai that drives people to suicide. Right now, it’s holding off the Tsuchinoko’s own psychic suicide waves. With the two monsters in a standoff, Okarun jumps into action. He transforms into Turbo Granny mode and goes straight for the Tsuchinoko’s head—takes it clean off. But it regenerates instantly and keeps attacking.
Jiji and Momo take off running. On the way, Jiji asks the Evil Eye if it’s the one that made his parents kill themselves. The Evil Eye locks eyes with him—and shows Jiji its memories: being trapped as a kid, watching other children play while it waited to be sacrificed… then spending years as a spirit, watching the Kito Family kill off more people under the Tsuchinoko. One of those sacrifices is what finally turned it into the Evil Eye.
The Evil Eye takes over Jiji
Jiji reels after viewing the Evil Eye’s memories. Momo tries to pull the yokai out of him, but Jiji stops her. He’s convinced the Evil Eye isn’t evil—just in pain. He runs off to the base of the distorted generational houses, where the Evil Eye’s corpse is sealed. Momo follows and realizes Jiji believes the yokai was protecting him all along. At the bottom, Turbo Granny confronts them, leading to a fight with Jiji over whether the Evil Eye can be trusted.
Before things escalate, the Tsuchinoko ambushes them, zaps them, and traps them in sticky mucus. It’s done chasing Okarun, who’s passed out. Momo tries to escape with Jiji but finds him unconscious. Inside his mind, Jiji meets the Evil Eye again, apologizes, and agrees to play with him—just like the yokai wanted. That gives the Evil Eye full control over Jiji’s body, and Jiji screams in pain. The Tsuchinoko closes in, but the possessed Jiji fights back. The chapter ends with the Evil Eye declaring his intent to use Jiji to destroy all of humanity.
Okarun vs Jiji (Evil Eye)
The Evil Eye fully takes over Jiji’s body, and Turbo Granny immediately warns Momo to prep her psychic powers. Before she can react, the Evil Eye spots her, slams her into a wall, and pins her down. He notices the cat doll with her and recognizes it as a yokai, asking if Turbo Granny is her servant — which she angrily denies. Momo begs for Jiji to come back, but the Evil Eye reveals Jiji is now just a vessel and plans to use him to bring chaos to humanity.
Turning his attention to the Tsuchinoko, the Evil Eye builds a dome shaped like a house using the resentment of sacrificed souls to block its electric attacks. He reshapes it into a sphere and launches it like a missile, landing multiple hits and forcing the giant worm underground.
Confused by everything, Momo learns from Turbo Granny that Jiji was chosen as the ideal vessel because of his massive spiritual power — something Seiko hinted at back when he first arrived. Turbo Granny warns her to stay on guard: Jiji’s not with them anymore.
Just as the Evil Eye goes in for another attack and prepares to launch a grudge ball at Momo, Okarun steps in, blocks it, and calls out the Evil Eye for hurting her.
