Sakamoto Days, Season 2, Episode 8: “Exam, Stage Three”

As the testers gather together on the beach, a proctor informs them that there will be more participants for the final stage of testing. The three new testers are Kaji, Toramaru, and Shinaya. They have been recommended by pros “in the field or assassin agencies.” One of them, Toramaru, has a “special Sakamoto keychain.” Elsewhere, “X” is trying to connect to the internet so he can contact one or more of the tests at the exam.

At the test, everyone is asked to open their bullet, revealing a cloth band. Each team will compete in a “game of tail tag.” Players will try to steal each others “tails,” the cloth, using a number of skills. There are 7 teams, they have two hours, if an enemy catches your tail you’re considered dead, and you fail. The goal of the game is to train the contestants for team survival. The band requires the participant to “protect their lumbar spine.”

Shin and Sakamoto are on different teams

Shin and Sakamoto realize that they’re on different teams. The Red Team is Sakamoto, Akira, and Kill Baby. The White Team is Shin, Mafuyu, and Kaji. The need to get as many tails as they can within the time limit. When the proctor says “Go” everyone scatters. Shin and Sakamoto’s team separate and Shin gets the first tail. Meanwhile, Toramaru is terrorizing the other testers, aiming to collect all the colors.

She notices Shin’s team. Sakamoto’s team is just chilling, drinking tea while Kill Baby get upset. When a butterfly land on him he tries to get it of him, Akira seems to have knowledge of the species and tells them they’re harmless. When he tries to swat one, Akira grabs it with such “quick and sensitive movements,” that Sakamoto is impressed. He asks her where she learned to move like that but their ambushed.

The same thing happens to Shin and his team, as Toramaru catches up to them. She quickly deduces that Shin is clairvoyant, as he dodges her attack. Mafuyu does what he usually does and insults her “obsession,” causing her to become enraged. Sakamoto manage to block the missile launched at them with his apron but their still trapped under the net. Akira escapes but she too scared to fight. However, something Sakamoto says to her triggers some trauma and she starts to attack them coldly. Sakamoto manages to stop her for going too far.

Sakamoto notices her skill again. He ask for her “family name,” and she responds, Akao. The name of one of his classmates from his days at JCC.
