One Piece Episode 1178: “Protect History and the Future – Robin and Gaban Go on the Attack”

One of the children, Ronja, is separated from the group as she starts walking on an arrow leading off the branch. At first, Ronja tries not to make a big deal out of it until she sees just how far the fall is. She stops moving as Gunko, who has arrived at the children’s location, reports that the first child they will kill to make the Giants fall in line is ready. Sommers tells Gunko to make sure all of Elbaph can hear Ronja’s voice as he warns that if the Giants do not make a decision within the next thirty seconds, Ronja will fall to the Underworld and die. Once again, Sommers demands that Jarul order the school and library to be destroyed.

The other Giants tell Jarul he cannot destroy the school because the library contains the words of people from a thousand years of history. However, others argue that the children’s lives are more important, while some believe the biggest problem is whether or not they will comply with the Knights of God’s demands and become servants of the World Government. As the Giants begin begging for help, Robin decides to confront Sommers even though she knows she cannot do any lasting damage to him.

Robin Attacks

Meanwhile, Nami is outraged that the Knights would go so far as to kill children, claiming that even the world’s worst criminals would not stoop that low. However, her words are lost on Sommers’ arrogant mind. Ripley, Dorry, and Brogy decide to split up to take down the MMAs and rescue the children as Sommers continues demanding that the library be burned with the books left inside. He wants to destroy Elbaph’s history and culture completely.

Robin attacks Sommers with Cien Fleur: Craspedia, drawing blood before restraining him with four arms to break his back. The Straw Hats cheer at first, but Sommers quickly fixes himself while reminding Elbaph that they have twenty seconds left. Robin then jumps onto Sommers and throws them both off the branch. She knows he is immortal and has Devil Fruit powers, but she figures that if she can get him far enough away, the children will no longer be surrounded by his invisible thorns. Sommers commends Robin for her clever thinking before stabbing her with his thorns, only to discover that it was a copy and that he had been deceived.

Gaban arrives

The real Robin tries to cut Gunko’s arrows with her knife but finds that it cannot cut through them. This means they need to take Gunko down if they want to break free. Meanwhile, Sommers saves himself using his powers and announces that there are only ten seconds left. Gunko demands that Ronja say something, so Ronja tells Jarul that she loves school because that is where her friends are. She also loves the library and explains that one thing she has learned from school is to not cause trouble for other people or make them upset. Therefore, if they have to burn down the school and library just to keep her from falling, she would rather fall than make everyone sad. Even though she is crying, Ronja tells Jarul that she will be okay because she is a lucky girl. Despite this, Jarul orders Ange to burn down the school and library, which she regretfully agrees to.

Robin is brought to tears just as Sommers returns and restrains her with his powers. Just as he is about to finish her off, someone cuts off his right arm. To his surprise, the arm does not regenerate. The culprit turns out to be Gaban, who Sommers recognizes just as Gaban delivers a devastating slash across his chest with a look of pure fury on his face.
