Mob Psycho 100 S2 -7 Review – Cornered ~True Identity~

Reigen being humiliated

Reigen gets humiliated

In the last episode, Jodo Kirin plotted to embarrass Reigen. They bring out a possessed child. The show takes a commercial break. Jodo uses this opportunity to manipulate Reigen into going first. He plays on his vanity, by offering the “spotlight,” to Reigen. He also “allows” Reigen to hear that there’s a “script.” Reigen claims to be prepared to exorcise the boy. He uses his Salt Splash on the boy, knowing that his salt “has never worked before,” Reigen concludes that the boy is acting.

Adorable Mob talking to Reigen

However, assuming that there’s a script he continues for another 30 mins. Jodo steps up and announces that he can’t exorcise the boy because he’s not possessed, thus revealing Reigen as a fraud. Jodo further humiliates him by asking him questions and getting the audience to laugh at him. The next day on social media the fallout from his exposure is revealed. Past characters and clients of his are seen reacting to his misfortune.

Reigen’s press conference

Learning nothing apparently, Reigen takes his latest opportunity to get media attention. He attacks the media for “stalking him.” He asks does anyone have proof that he’s a scam artists or he doesn’t have psychic powers. When asked directly if he has powers he answers, “no comment.” After finally answering questions, it is revealed that he would have quit the psychic business if it wasn’t for Mob.

A silent moment

This scene starts out as sweet, with Mob looking adorable with his big eyes, however, it quickly becomes clear that Reigen has decided to take advantage of Mob’s innocence. To his credit Reigen realizes that he has failed to change and feels guilty for having used Mob. He tells Mob through the cameras that “he’s grown,” Mob (we assume) then uses his powers to help Reigen. Technically, Mob’s is now complicate in the fraud that Reigen is perpetrating. However, Mob wouldn’t be were he is without Reigen and vice versa. They’re a team and together they help people in need.
