Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, Episode 22: Geto shows off, Choso goes off, and Yuki appears

When we last left off Geto had arrived to “save,” Mahito from Yuji. Overhearing his name, Yuji rushes to try a get Gojo back. Geto uses a catfish curse to cause an earthquake. In the manga I was always confused by what happened but apparently the cursed spirit creates an hole but it disappears, leaving Yuji and the audience confused. Yuji tries to attack again but is swarmed by centipede curses. Geto notes that the strength of the Cursed Spirit Manipulation is it’s ability to grant it’s user a “high number of moves.” Geto is able to use curses on the fly, dominating his opponents.

Suddenly, Mahito attacks Geto, who dodges his assault. Mahito claims that he knew Geto’s plans for him all along. It doesn’t matter. Mahito is absorbed into a black sphere marking the end of Mahito. Geto explains to Yuji the Maximum Techniques. According to him, they are “innate technique‘s most powerful art outside of Domain Expansion. The Maximum Technique of Geto is called Maximum: Uzumaki. He can combine a number of cursed spirits into one massive attack. If the user utilizes a cursed spirit semi-grade 1 or high their innate techniques are extracted.

Choso seeks revenge

The Kyoto students arrive and embarrass themselves trying and failing to land a hit on Geto. Miwa attacks with her sword on for Geto to catch it with his bare hands. He snaps the sword then uses Maximum Uzumaki on Miwa. I believe this attack allowed Geto to extract Mahito’s Idle Transformation technique, so it didn’t matter when he used it just that he did. The attack is beautifully rendered in the anime and it felt devastating.

Surprisingly, it’s the lazy Kusakabe to the rescue. Geto praises him for knowing what he’s doing. Everyone else appears on the battlefield. Choso is enraged, after realizing that Geto is actually Noritoshi Kamo. Geto reveals that he has many different names. Choso attacks Geto and Uraume, but mainly he focuses on Geto. In this moment Choso is impressive but it’s all undermined when you realized that he doesn’t land a single hit on Geto.

So far in this series Geto has been largely hands off leaving the other curses to fight Yuji. With all of them being killed Geto is now forced to the front lines. His battle experience being formed over a hundreds of years gives him a significant advantage. After Geto embarrasses Choso as well, Uraume steps up to kill everyone but Yuji. Using their Frost Calm, they freeze Choso, Noritoshi, Panda, and Kusakabe. Yuji step in to free Choso. However, Uraume uses Ice Formation, bombarding Yuji and Choso with icicles. Suddenly, Special Grade sorcerer Yuki Tsukumo appears with her shikigami.
