Season 1, Episode 3: Weapons of Science
Senku realizing the threat that Tsukasa presents, believes that it necessary to keep the recipe for the revival fluid a secret. Almost instantly, Taiju runs up and announces that he’s got enough of the revival fluid for Yuzuriha. However, Taiju didn’t collect enough. Senku sends him to get more. Tsukasa stops him and suggest that since he’s faster he should collect it. Tsukasa is proving that he’s not just strong but smart as well. However, he is still ignorant enough that Senku is able to deceive him. Taiju actually had enough revival fluid and while Tsukasa is at the cave they revive Yuzuriha.

Senku offers them two options, either Taiju and Yuzuriha leave together and live somewhere else or they band together to stop the murderous Tsukasa. When he returns he suggests that “killing” is a matter of perspective and he’s “just culling,” people. Taiju attacks him foolishly, but Senku saves him by shooting an arrow. Tsukasa catches said arrow, then hits Taiju’s hand with a kick. According to Tsukasa, Taiju’s is the first person to remain standing after receiving such a blow. Despite his endurance, Taiju remains an idiot. He tells Tsukasa that he will never “hit” anyone, but will accept being hit. Tsukasa is confused. He then asks if he tried to “kill” Yuzuriha what would Taiju do.

Taiju faints. Tsukasa leaves. Senku concludes that the only way to defeat Tsukasa is with “advance civilization and weapons of science.” Senku makes it look like they fled in a hurry and they head to Hakone to find materials for weapons. When they get lost Yuzuriha helps them find their way using a great Buddha statue. Senku takes the chance to make a mirror out of the bronze that the statue is made out of. Tsukasa arrives at the camp site. However, he’s not fooled at all. Not only that he deduces Senku plan completely. It’s a little too convenient even for this series. Regardless, Senku, Yuzuriha and Taiju arrive at the hot spring, where they will make gunpowder.

So far, Tsukasa is proving to be stronger than everyone and as smart as Senku. If he’s to dumb (like Taiju) he won’t be a challenge for Senku. However, if he’s too smart the trio won’t stand a chance against him. Yuzuriha hasn’t shown what she brings to the group yet. She clearly smarter that Taiju which isn’t saying much and she appears to be in better shape that Senku, as he was tired from traveling. I hoping she adds more to the series than simply being the reason for Taiju to fight. Finally, I’m excited to see when Tsukasa chooses to free someone who he picks.
