Erwin Smith: 57th Expedition Beyond the Walls, Part 4

Another week another EPIC Attack on Titan. Attack on Titan never seems to disappoint me. This episode featured everything that makes this series great. The episode featured good animation, action, mystery, intrigued, tension and a plot twist. We learn a little bit about the female titans abilities. She has the ability to harden her skin much like the armored titan. With a primal scream she seems to have the ability to command lesser minded titans. Commander Erwin suspected that someone in the rookie class is helping the titans or is the female titan.

It was also revealed that the spy is most likely responsible for killing sonny and bean. Armin explains the commanders shrewd mindset and his willingness to sacrifice soldiers for the greater good. He explains that “anyone who can’t sacrifice anything, can’t ever change anything”. The episode ends with Gunter’s brutal death at the hands of the “traitor”. For some reason I found it worst for the traitor to kill a solider while human as opposed to doing so while in titan form. So what do you think was the episode well balanced ? How do you feel about Commander Erwin’s willingness to sacrifice? Have figured out who the female titan is?

  1. I didn’t expect the female titan to go out like that but it was a great twist. This was another good episode, especially for Erwin. His plan falls apart and he has to deal with the loss of so many men but he does it anyway with a brief look of chagrin. The strength in pulling out and the sharpness to realise that the person inside Titan could get out was great.

    1. Erwin seems to posses the appropriate type of personality for being commander. He’s seems a little cold but that’s clearly necessary in the war against the Titans.
