Shin and Mafuyu face off as Shin activates his new ability. Shin wants to test his abilities without the aid of Sakamoto. Using his abilities he’s able to evade Mafuyu’s attacks, counter attack, and eventually defeat the teenager. He takes the three bullet Mafuyu has but refuses to kill him. Mafuyu starts crying, surprising Shin. He tells him the “it’s nothing to cry about”. He only 14, and will other opportunities.
Mafuyu tells Shin that his real dream is to join the order. Shin tells him that he doesn’t need “connections,” to get into the order but he does need to have “incredible abilities.” He give him one of the three bullets. In economy class, Sakamoto helps Akira with her gun skills. In first class, Test Administrator and order member, Kanaguri slaughters testers as he takes footage. Out of the 360 participates only 63 remain.
Kanaguri spy on Mafuyu and Shin as they make their way through the plane. When he reveals himself, Shin is excited to see the “pioneer of assassin movies.” Mafuyu is less than impressed. He calls movies “stupid” and claims that “youtube video are better.” Kanaguri will not tolerant movie slander and decides to kill him. When he attacks Shin tries to predict his movements but his abilities allow him to change the future somehow. Suddenly, Sakamoto and Akira arrive.
Akira’s daring rescue
Once he lays eyes on Akira, Kanaguri decides she’ll be his main protagonist. He takes all of their bullets and kill the pilots with them, causing the plane to nose dive. Feeling audiences won’t like his “boring” film he blows a hole in the plane. The other administrators have parachutes and regret hiring Kanaguri. They decide to make this moment part two of the test. They must land safely while possessing at least one bullet. Sakamoto manages to get the bullets but they need to land. Akira, inspired by Sakamoto uses her ability to sew a parachute out of everyone’s shirts.
Akira impresses Sakamoto with her sewing skills under pressure and he gifts her a well earned bullet. Is it too obvious that Akira will become another member of Sakamoto’s family? Mafuyu might become one as well. Sakamoto Days continues to impress and entertain. I like that Shin and Akira are inspired by Sakamoto become stronger and use their skills. With “X” increasing his numbers, they will need to expand the crew as well.
