One question has interested me regarding Kuzan joining the Blackbeard Pirates, why? Kuzan attacks Blackbeard’s territory, angering the Yonko. They exchange short lived threats. Suddenly, they’re drinking as Kuzan recounts his fight with Akainu. He reveals that his lost his leg after Akainu launch a “awful” attack on him. The discussing shifts to “the man with the burn scar.” It is explained that “there are four important red Road Ponegliff’s in the world,” Kaido and Big Mom each have one, the other two are missing but according to Blackbeard the Man with the Burn Scar has one of them.
Apparently, the Man with the Scar sails on a “pitch-black ship,” if anyone approaches his ship a massive whirlpool will swallow you up. They believe that he has a Devil Fruit ability and that he works for the government. When one of Blackbeard’s Pirates asks him about stealing Kuzan Devil Fruit. Feeling threaten, Kuzan freezes the bar and several Blackbeard Pirates, Kuzan is offered a place on the Blackbeard Pirates. He understandably doesn’t trust Blackbeard. He eventually gives in, as Blackbeard argues that Pirates only need to share a mutual goal.
Kuzan vs Garp
In the present, Kuzan prepares to defend the Island. Garp tells him to “cut ties,” with Blackbeard, free Hibari, and return to the Marines. Kuzan refuses and they engage in battle. Kuzan traps Garp in a ice but the Vice-Admiral breaks out with Haki. He then uses Haki to knock several massive chucks of ice at Kuzan. While trying to avoid the ice, Kuzan is caught by Garp who uses Blue Hole, throwing Kuzan into the ground creating a massive hole in the ground.
Elsewhere, we get the conclusion of the encounter between the Heart Pirates and Blackbeard. Blackbeard prepares to kill Law, leaving Bepo desperate. He uses a drug Chopper prepared to transform briefly into a Sulong. Bepo overwhelms Blackbeard, Burgess, and Van Augur. He escapes with Law on his back, but the Heart Pirates are defeated.
