The later asks why he’s thanking the “old dude.” Kikoru manages to save Kafka by mentioning that he discovered the “Yoju reproductive organs,” this seems to work but for how long. Regardless, Iharu is another witness to Kafka’s “goodness.” After Reno and Iharu leave the hospital, Kafka organizes a party to celebrate. Hoshina makes an announcement. Kafka is being promoted to an officer. The rest of the Defense Force cheers as the toss him into the air yelling “hooray.”

Mina gives him the honor and she reminds him that there’s “he’s a long way from fighting by her side.” She reveals that Hoshina was the one that recommended him. While studying late, Kafka watches as Hoshina trains. He’s working out a strategy to kill Kafka. Obviously, Kafka is petrified of what this means for him. At the end of the episode a new threat appears, Kaiju No. 10?

  1. Poor Kafka, the vice captain is out to get him, or rather Kaiju No.8. Yeah, Kafka really should be worried with the vice captain practicing to kill him. Yay, I’m so glad that Kafka got promoted relatively quickly. He only went on one Kaiju hunt, and was already bumped up to full officer. Oh, the bad guy at the end of this episode looked really creepy!

    1. Kafka’s intellect and knowledge of Kaiju biology has proven to be invaluable to the defense force. Each episode someone learns that Kafka is a Kaiju or at least that his Kaiju form isn’t bad. I think this will matter when he’s eventually discovered.
