Fire Force Season 3, Episode 6: “Beyond Prayer’s End”

Fire Force Season 3 Episode 6, “Beyond Prayer’s End,” focuses primarily on the fight between Shinra and Captain Burns. The episode begins with a flashback featuring Burns and Joker. Burns have always focused on prayer and belief. This is why he eventually decides to join with the White Clad. He now believes that God wants the world to be destroyed.

Shinra pulls out some slick moves to take on Burns, using his crazy speed and mobility to his advantage. The fight looks and sounds amazing — Fire Force’s sound design and soundtrack are on another level and easily some of the best in current Shonen anime.

With every hit, both Shinra and Burns just keep getting stronger. Neither of them backs down, and it’s pure willpower keeping them on their feet. Burns brushes off Shinra’s attacks at first, but eventually the Shinra’s flames start to wear him down. Still, Burns pushes Shinra just as hard, keeping the pressure on.

Shinra’s Blue Flames

Backed into a corner, Shinra finally unleashes his blue flames — a move he learned from Benimaru, one of Fire Force’s top fighters and a rare 2nd and 3rd Gen. Benimaru not only has insane firepower but is also a beast in close combat. He taught Shinra how to bring out more power when he’s close to death. With his new blue flames, Shinra finally holds his own against Burns.

But Burns isn’t letting up. Even as Shinra powers up, the former captain seems like he wants to be surpassed. It’s like he’s already chosen Shinra to carry the torch. He blocks every attack without dodging, using himself to push Shinra further. But even if he’s ready to pass the baton, he’s not going down without a serious fight.

Burn’s Death and Benimaru’s arrival

Shinra pushes his speed to a new level and finally lands a solid hit on Leonard Burns, ending their fight. Both of them are too injured to keep going when Burns is suddenly attacked from behind. Haumea interferes, and Burns’ Doppelganger kills him, trying to drag both fighters into Adolla. In a final act of heroism, Burns saves Shinra and shows he’s more complex than he first seemed. Before dying, he admits he believes some higher power beyond the Evangelist is behind everything.

With their fight over, the next Pillar shows up—but their identity isn’t revealed. The White-Clad go after the rest of Company 8, looking to finish them off. Just when it seems like it’s the end for the team, a masked figure shows up to help. The mask doesn’t hide much—it’s clear Benimaru Shinmon is back to save the day.
