Dandadan Episode 5 Recap and Review

Okarun is uncertain about his friendship with Momo until he sees that she was waiting for him before school. However, both still occupy different friend groups resulting in little interactor during school. They finally run into each other were they get into a fight after Momo denies that they’re in a relationship. Okarun rushes to the bathroom where he notices that his testicles are missing.

After another misinterpretation between him and Momo, Okarun meets a friendly student named Aira. Unfortunately, Aira is trying to manipulate Okarun. Momo overhears this and decides to use her powers to drop a basin on Aira’s head. On the way home Momo and Okarun reunite and forgive each other.

Where are Okarun’s balls?

Seiko berates Okarun for not allowing her to examine him the day before. After a quick check on his soul, Seiko realizes there’s “something” inside Okarun and tells Momo to grab a doll and a bowl of water. Momo returns with the bowl and a maneki-neko, and Seiko immediately smacks Okarun on the head with a harisen, casually referencing Kinpachi as she does.

She then asks Momo if she noticed anything unusual. Momo mentions that she saw Okarun’s aura shift colors, and Seiko tells her to pull out the aura the next time it changes. When Momo follows through, both of them are shocked as the maneki-neko springs to life and bolts out of the room. Momo quickly tracks its aura with her psychic powers and manages to stop the doll in its tracks as it struggles, grumbling to be let go.

Turbo Granny survived

Momo and Okarun learn from Seiko that the doll they’re dealing with is actually Turbo Granny. Turbo Granny then explains that she managed to escape exorcism by slipping into Okarun at the last second. She even vows to take revenge once her powers come back, which prompts Momo to remind her—rather bluntly—that she’s currently powerless against them. With that, Okarun confronts Turbo Granny, demanding his stuff back and holding up a talisman to keep her in check. Turbo Granny warns him not to get too cocky—threatening her could mean he never gets his “balls” back. This hits Okarun and Momo like a ton of bricks.

Turbo Granny doesn’t hold back, though, and tells Okarun he’ll have to kill Momo and Seiko if he wants his balls returned. Furious, Okarun transforms into his Turbo Granny form, ready to fight. Seiko then reveals that although Turbo Granny’s consciousness was kicked out of Okarun’s body, her power stuck around because she refused to fully let go, much to Turbo Granny’s shock.

This realization drives Seiko to frantically whack Turbo Granny with her harisen. Despite all the chaos between them, Momo admits to Turbo Granny that she can’t hate her—not after learning about her kindness toward the girls who died in the tunnel. Momo then proposes a deal: she’ll help restore Turbo Granny’s power if she agrees to help them find Okarun’s balls. Turbo Granny reluctantly agrees, but with a major setback—she confesses she’s actually lost them.
