Dandadan Episode 20: “You Can Do It, Okarun!”

The musicians appear, demanding to know who hit the wrong piano note. Aira tries to leave with Okarun, but Turbo Granny accuses them. When the musicians attack, Okarun and Aira transform. Okarun charges forward, accidentally detonating one of their explosive notes. Turbo Granny warns him the notes are bombs and the rest symbols can paralyze, leaving Aira doubtful they can dodge everything.

The battle shifts to a bizarre paddy field created by the musicians. Explosive notes rain down as Aira dodges with ease while Okarun struggles, even smacking into a sign that distorts his voice. Aira’s counterattack with her hair is blocked, and Okarun and Turbo Granny get caught in paralyzing symbols. Aira wants to help but is forced to keep dodging.

Frustrated and falling behind, Okarun starts to lose confidence. Turbo Granny urges him to find a rhythm to evade the attacks. He remembers the HAYASii song from Jiji’s exorcism and channels its beat just as Aira gets trapped. Moving in sync, he saves her and dodges the barrage, earning Turbo Granny’s praise. With Okarun’s support, Aira reaches the conductor and lands a decisive kick, ending the fight.

The Great Opera Hall battle

With their conductor down, the battlefield morphs into a massive opera hall where four towering giants unleash a swarm of chorus members. Using her Acrobatic Silky Hair, Aira grabs hold of a giant’s head and yanks herself, Okarun, and Turbo Granny clear of the mob. But the other giants strike back, hitting their own ally instead. Midair, Aira kicks Okarun away and orders him to take out the musicians. She’s caught by the next attack but powers through, remembering her time at the Ayase residence. Spinning between the giants, Aira turns their attacks against each other before pulling one down and crushing the last with a devastating kick.

Meanwhile, Okarun charges through the chorus army, dodging explosive notes as he closes in on the musicians. Five of them stand in his way — and with only two All-Out moves left, victory looks impossible. But recalling Turbo Granny’s tip about her speed — five moves in a single beat — Okarun pushes past his limit, striking each musician with a rapid series of headbutts and leaving behind five afterimages.

Okarun vs the Evil Eye

With the musicians defeated, the illusion shatters and the trio returns to the classroom. Okarun checks on Aira and thanks her for the backup. She starts to give her usual playful reply but ends up glaring at Turbo Granny when she smugly takes credit, annoying the cat doll. Turbo Granny explains that the musicians were tulpas — manifestations from the music portraits summoned at 2 a.m. — sparking Aira’s suspicions about her real motives. But before anyone can dig deeper, Turbo Granny accidentally hits a piano key and summons the musicians all over again!

At the Ayase house, Manjiro decides on another exorcism for the Evil Eye, but Jiji and Momo push back. Before the argument can continue, Okarun bursts in, declaring he’ll fight the Evil Eye himself. Fueled by anger over its attack on Momo and his own weakness, he vows to help Jiji keep control of it. With Seiko holding Manjiro back, Jiji places his trust in Okarun. The Evil Eye is released—and Okarun transforms into Turbo Granny to face it head-on!
