Top 10 Strongest My Hero Academia Quirks (Part 2)

Check out the first half of this list here.

5. Rewind

Quirk Type: Emitter

A Quirk created as a result of a rare mutation, Eri’s Rewind ability isn’t connected to her family. Eri has the ability to “reverse a living being’s body back to a previous state.” Kai Chisaki claimed that he Quirk was so powerful that Eri could “rewind genetics.” Due to Eri’s current age she lacks control over her ability. Through training with Shota Aizawa, she has developed greater control. Her Quirk can bring back injures and undo them. If she can’t control herself she could erase someone from existence. Rewind’s effects are limited to organic materials.

4. Decay

Quirk Type: Emitter

Tomura Shigaraki’s Decay Quirk is a mutation like Eri’s Rewind. He can destroy anything her touches with his hands. Whether it’s organic material or not, he can revert everything to dust. The Decay effect can function like a chain, spreading from where Tomura touched. If he touches a person, they will need to cut of the infected limb other wise their body will rot. Due to Tomura having to touch with his fingers his Quirk can be limited if he ever lost his hands.

3. Overhaul

Quirk Type: Emitter

Overhaul is a Quirk that’s similar to Tomura’s Decay. However, unlike Tomura’s Quirk, Kai Chisaki’s Overhaul ability let’s him destroy and reassemble. Kai can target specific parts of the human body, destroy it, restore it, or transform it. It’s an instant process and can work on living and non-living things. Kai can form “holes, walls, spikes, and platforms anywhere in his surroundings from a single point.” Overhaul permits Kai to combine two different objects including different beings, allowing the user to use both of their Quirks. In the series, Kai lost his arms after Tomura Shigaraki and Atsuhiro Sako destroyed them. He can no longer use his Quirk. Regardless, it’s one of the most versatile Quirks.

2. One For All

One For All is the current Quirk of Izuku Midoriya. It’s a transferable Quirk that must be willingly given. For this reason One For All cannot be stolen by All For One. One For All allows it’s user to stockpile raw power, enhancing all physical abilities to a super human level. The power can be focused on a single body part or spread throughout the body. If the user already has a Quirk, One For All can increase its power as well. One For All increases in power when transferred from user to user. Izuku is the only user to have access the Quirks of the previous users making his version the strongest. One For All also allows the user to have access to the consciousnesses of previous users.

Despite all this power, One For All has a few limitations. First, the Quirk requires the user to be strong enough to handle it. If they’re too weak the user can be blown apart. One For All can deplete the lifespan of the user if they have another Quirk. It has been speculated by previous users that One For All can be stolen if the collective will of its users are overwhelmed. The assimilated Quirks One For All possess, an unknown Quirk, Fa Jin, Danger Sense, Blackwhip, Smokescreen, and Float are weak on their own but together have potential.

1. All For One

Tomura Shigaraki is the current user of All For One. The Quirk grants the user the ability to steal Quirks from others and use them. Furthermore, the user can bestow Quirks onto others. All For One can combine Quirks, resulting in new and more powerful techniques. Unlike One For All, All For One can absorb more than one Quirk at a time. All For One can render someone a mindless doll if given to a weak host. The effectiveness of the Quirks stolen by All For One is limited by the abilities of the user.

The original All For One user claimed “he did not want to steal Best Jeanist’s Fiber Master, as it required too much training and experience to truly master.” Dr. Kyudai claims that if the “memory” (amount of power of the Quirk) exceeds the “hardware” (the body of the user) then it will cause problem. The amount of Quirks that can be used or stolen is limited by the health of the users body. After All For One absorbed Dr. Kyudai’s Life Force Quirk, the user is granted “agelessness.”

The top two Quirks were always going to be One For All and All For One. I think One For All is overall weaker because it can only gain new Quirks from one user at a time. Furthermore, only the Quirkless can make good use of One For All, which means less than 20% of humanity can use it. With that population declining eventually One For All might become difficult to use.

What do you think? Is All For One better than One For All? What about the top ten?

My Hero Academia Season 5, Episode 20: The Meta Liberation Army declares war on The League of Villains

My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 20 barrels head first into the Meta Liberation Army Arc. After the emotional episode last week, we finally see the League of Villains encounter Gigantomachia. All For One has amassed several supporters, Gigantomachia being the one of them, specifically as his bodyguard. At some point he’s modified with numerous Quirks. Gigantomachia is massive . His body is can tolerate a great deal of abuse and he shares a Gigantomachia Quirk with Mt. Lady (Yu Takeyama) and a low ranked villain, Giant Villain. However, Yu cannot assume a size in-between her normal height and her max (2062 centimeters), whereas, Gigantomachia can grow any size between his basic height and his peek, 2,500 centimeters. In addition to this difference, his bones stick out of his flesh as he grows.

Gigantomachia doesn’t seem to support All For One’s ideology, he appears more like a pet than a ally. When he overhears All For One’s voice, he stops in his tracks. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was brainwashed. Gigantomachia attacks the League of Villains, testing the “weak” Tomura. Doctor Kyudai Garaki believes his “loyalty” is so powerful that it would benefit Tomura to convince him to support him. Tomura isn’t interested. Using the Warping Quirk, Dr. Garaki transports the League to his underground laboratory. The Doctor is sitting at the end of a room filled with “High End Nomu” in large tanks.

Tomura Shigaraki battles Gigantomachia

Dr. Garaki tests Tomura Shigaraki

Dr. Garaki introduces himself as aide to All For One: Daruma Ujiko. He states everything he’s done is for All For One. He doesn’t believe Tomura is “worthy of his devotion.” If Tomura wants the same support as All For One he needs to prove himself. Tomura flashes back to when he first meet All For One. Alone in an alley, he’s “saved” by his new “Master.” We learn that the hands Tomura wears are actually real and the lasting remains of his murdered family. All For One plans on allowing Tomura’s hatred to “linger” and teach him to “direct” his hatred. His families hands have a very negative effect on him. As Tomura explains it, they “makes him feel both sick, but also calm in a way.”

He assumes that he will continue to hate “everything” regardless what happens to hero society. If he can’t control that anger, he will simply “destroy everything.” Dr. Daruma likes what he hears and agrees to help Tomura, only if the League can get Gigantomachia to submit. Dabi isn’t interested in helping. He says he’s found a “good ally (Hawks)” Dr. Daruma returns them to face. Gigantomachia. The League fights Gigantomachia for over a month. However, he’s slowing down. Suddenly, Twice gets a call from Giran. Re-Destro answers the phone. The leader of the Meta Liberation Army delcares war on the League. He tells them to come to Deika City and die by their hands. Tomura asks Daruma to send them to Deika, he will lure Gigantomachia there to deal with 110,000 Meta Liberation Army.

Chapter 283 – ’75’

Gigantomachia rampages towards Tomura Shigaraki. The younger heroes are left alone. Majestic used his Quirk to rescue them. Most of the heroes are confused by the events that lead to this defeat. The sedative seems to have failed. Elsewhere, Kyudai Garaki tells the heroes that they have not “slipped up,” but Gigantomachia is a “calamity that lives and dies for the sake of his master.” Garaki reveals that all the Nomu’s are modeled after Gigantomachia. Like most of the “Nomu” in Tomura’s employ, Gigantomachia has several Quirks. According to Doctor Garaki, he has an energy Quirk, that allows him to convert morale into energy and stamina. He has two other unnamed Quirks, one that numbs pain and the other that allows the bones to grow.

Back at the battle, Shoto uses his ice to cool down his father. Eraser Head is being tended to by Manual and Rock Lock that are trying to deal with his newly severed leg. Rock Lock tells Deku to flee. Deku is dealing with a lot of emotions all at once. He’s teary-eyed and enraged at the “death” of Gran Torino. Tomura announces that it’s time for the heroes “to die.” However, his body begins to tear and gush blood. Deku realizes that as his body, Tomura’s Quirks are too much for him. It’s also the case that his body was never completed (stopped at 75%) and he may always have this limit. I think this is important otherwise Tomura would be too powerful at least at the beginning.

The value of Deku’s experience

Regardless, Tomura heals and uses his decay Quirk. Suddenly, Deku uses his Blackwhip and Float Quirk to rescue save his friends. Shimura’s Float Quirk seemed to be useless to me, but maybe it does have some value if used with other Quirks. Gran Torino remains alive but is unlikely to survive. I think he will get an opportunity to say goodbye to Deku. I have commented that Deku will need to master his six Quirks to be a threat to Tomura. However, both are in the process of learning the many Quirks the currently possess. That said, Deku is still ahead of Tomura who has just mastered the Quirk he was born with. With that advantage, Deku may have a chance. Victory isn’t possible but escapes maybe.

My Hero Academia Chapter 277: Recap and Review

Deku and Tomura Shigaraki clash

My Hero Academia Chapter 277 opens with Deku and Tomura Shigaraki clashing. With the Near High Ends nomu’s keeping the other heroes distracted, Deku knows that this is a pivotal moment as Tomura’s Quirks are erased. His greatest fear is losing his teacher Eraserhead. Speechless, Eraserhead remembers telling Deku that “he could never be a Hero with his power.” It was difficult to recall that Deku was often hindered by his Quirk and discounted for it. He’s mostly overcome that limitation and is now perceived as a hero of the highest order. Bakugo attacks with A.P. Machine-Gun. Tomura is unaffected, dismissing the attack as “cute fireworks.” Endeavor attacks as Deku is overwhelmed by Tomura’s strength. Endeavor asks where Shoto is.

Shigaraki frees himself from his master

The absence of Shoto is curious. I’m not sure what it does for the story. Tomura seems to be powerful enough to handle all the heroes without his Quirks. Shoto will likely arrive when he’s needed the most, probably when Tomura gets his Quirks back. Regardless, Endeavor believes that Tomura is as “sturdy as All might.” Shigaraki pursues Deku, but he’s distracted by the voice of his Master. Talking to himself, Tomura declares that he’s going to surpass his Master and control himself. Suddenly, Gran Torino attacks. He tells Tomura to “quit trampling all over Shimura’s memory.” Tomura responds, “who?” Despite the biological relationship between Tomura and his grandmother, he’s not familiar with her. With her dying before his birth, he has no real relationship with her.

I would imagine that he will learn more about her later in the series. What effect that has is up in the air. Tomura makes a move towards Deku, however, Bakugo attacks with a huge blast. This leaves Tomura open for Endeavor to use his Super Move: Vanishing Fist. Tomura isn’t invincible in his current form. Without his healing Quirk, he can be harmed, but he’s durable. Elsewhere, at Gunga Mountain Villa, Mt. Lady battles Gigantomachia, who’s carrying Himiko, Dabi, Spinner, Mr. Compress, and Skeptic on his back. Mt. Lady struggles not to let him pass her. The heroes are up against it everywhere. If they can keep Gigantomachia and the others from leaving they might have a chance. As long as Deku is Tomura’s target I think he’s going to have a hard time winning. Ignoring the other heroes isn’t working and he needs to target Eraserhead more. He seems so arrogant that he probably doesn’t think he needs a strategy.

Is Dabi Toya Todoroki?

My Hero Academia Chapter 276: Recap and Review

Shigaraki is too strong

Chapter 276 of My Hero Academia opens with a question. Where is our country headed? Endeavor battles Shigaraki directly. However, despite not being able to use his Quirks, Shigaraki is almost as strong as All Might. Meanwhile, Eraserhead is being helped by Manual because his ankle was twisted by a Nomu. Eraserhead’s eyes are being moisturized by Manual’s Quirk. As Endeavor reaches Tomura he unleashes a fire blast. It does not affect as Tomura is actively able to avoid it. He slams Endeavor into Ryukyu. Elsewhere, Deku and Katsuki are dropped off by Gran Torino.

Deku and Bakugo are hidden

Gran Torino believes that due to Tomura’s speed they need to be a certain distance. The strategy is to create distance between Tomura and the civilians while putting him in Eraserheads sights. As the heroes descend on Tomura, several Nomu’s arrived. Tomura wasn’t able to save every Nomu but managed to free what Dr. Kyudai calls Near High Ends. They can’t think for themselves but they maintain get strength. Two of the Nomu’s begin to rush towards Eraserhead, but so does Tomura. Fearing death, Eraserhead thinks of his students and his desire to watch over them as they mature. Suddenly, Deku and Bakugo arrive, with Deku directly tackling Shigaraki.

The heroes are still overwhelmed

I just noticed that both One Piece and My Hero Academia current arcs have the heroes outmatched and outnumbered. It’s probably a coincidence but it’s interesting none the less. Something has to give. I still think that this fight between the heroes is going to end prematurely. Shigaraki being comparable to All Might without his Quirks is simply too strong to be defeated right now. I believe most of the heroes present will probably die including Eraserhead and Gran Torino. Although I hope Eraserhead survives. Regardless, we finally get Deku/Bakugo vs Tomura.
