One Piece Episode 1163: “I Want You to Praise Me – The Reunion of Robin and Saul”

The episode reveals more of Robin’s past after Ohara’s destruction. Spandine tells the newspapers the incident still “haunts” him, especially the loss of the civilian evacuation ship, but he places all the blame on Robin, calling her a demon in the body of a child. The World Government covers up the truth, claiming it would traumatize people, and instead orders that Robin be reported on sight. Because of this, she becomes a target, hunted for her bounty and feared by everyone. At her lowest point, Robin nearly gives up, but memories of her mother and Saul give her the strength to keep living.

Back in the present, the Straw Hats arrive at a massive tree with a port built into it and sea clouds ships can sail across as the Great Eirik docks. Luffy’s group rides a mist ship downward while Lilith is amazed by the advanced technology around them. After regrouping, Nami compliments Robin’s new haircut, and Luffy reunites with Hajrudin, who introduces his crew and reveals Road has been crucified as punishment. Hajrudin also mentions how everyone celebrated Big Mom’s defeat, but Luffy brushes it off, saying they can talk later at the feast.

Robin wants to see Saul

Before the celebration can begin, Robin tells Luffy she wants to see Saul first. The crew agrees to go with her, with Gerd leading the way. They learn Saul is now a history professor living at the Owl Library in Warrior Springs, though the area looks more like a beach. When they arrive, someone runs up saying Saul has collapsed and can’t get up, frustrating the crew after coming all this way. Robin, however, doesn’t seem worried.

Robin finally reunites with Saul, but he initially tries to scare her, pretending to collapse since he didn’t know how to face her after all these years. The joke falls flat. He picks her up and brings her close, noting she looks just like Olvia, which deeply moves Robin. Saul asks if she heard Dr. Vegapunk’s message to the world, calling it Ohara’s legacy, and praises him for risking his life to preserve it.

A beautiful reunion

Robin asks about Saul’s scars, but he explains he survived being frozen when the island’s fire melted the ice and he fell into the ocean. He later learned Robin escaped, though he was angry about the lies written about her. Robin tells him she doesn’t want to dwell on that and instead asks him to praise her for surviving. Saul does, hugging her and tearfully thanking her for making it back. Robin breaks down crying, saying she missed him, and Saul says he missed her too.

The Straw Hats watch the reunion, with most of them except Zoro and Jinbe crying, while Luffy smiles.
