One Piece returns from its hiatus with the final arc of the storied series. One Piece Episode 1156: “The Long-Sought Elbaph! The Big Reunion Banquet”, begins with the Straw Hat Pirates and the Giant Warrior Pirates are having a huge feast aboard the Great Eirik as they sail toward Elbaph. The home of the giants, Elbaph isn’t affiliated with the World Government.
Elsewhere, Bartolomeo saves an island from some thugs and tries to sell them Straw Hat merchandise at a discount. He then finds out the island is under the protection of the Red Hair Pirates and burns their flag to show the superiority of Luffy’s crew.
Shanks confronts him and demands a price for the disrespect. He gives Bartolomeo a vial of poison and a month to make Luffy drink it. Out of loyalty, Bartolomeo drinks it himself. The poison ends up being fake and the Barto Club is allowed to leave, but Yasopp destroys their ship with a single shot, leaving their fate unknown.
The Thousand Sunny disappears
On Hachinosu, Marshall D. Teach returns angry after the chaos caused by the clash with SWORD and the escape of Gecko Moria and Koby. It’s revealed that Monkey D. Garp is still alive but has been captured, which Blackbeard sees as an even bigger bargaining chip against the World Government.
Back on the Great Eirik, the Thousand Sunny and the crew on board suddenly go missing. Nami wakes up hungover in a toy-like room still in her Norse outfit and realizes she is no longer on the ship. This episode is just setting up the arc by tying up lose ends, reminding us what the current situation is with the most important characters, and asking new questions to be answer later. I think Luffy is going to love the giants, considering their defiant nature and love of fighting. I’m excited for this arc to begin.
