One Piece Episode 1123: “The World Shakes! The Straw Hats’ Hostage Situation”

The people on Dawn Island discuss Luffy and Garp, particularly, Garp’s disappearance. In the newspaper, Garp has been officially announced dead. Dadan reacts tearfully. Suddenly, a massive earthquake shakes the entire world specifically, Loguetown, Kano Country, Rakesh, the Twin Cape, Water 7, Wano Country, Impel Down, and Mary Geoise. The cause is the destruction of Lulusia Kingdom that took place a week prior.

The Marines receive news that the water levels are rising as they head to Egghead Island. The fleet is apparently larger than a Buster Call, being made up of over a hundred ships are deployed, including twenty warships and thirty thousand Marines. The operation’s being led by nine Vice Admirals and Admiral Kizaru. Kizaru’s on one of the ships, casually eating while talking to Sentomaru over Den Den Mushi.

Kizaru arrives

Sentomaru scolds him for destroying one of the Sea Beast Weapons—even though it attacked first. Kizaru jokes about surrendering and returning, but Sentomaru shuts that down and warns him he’ll fight back if Kizaru keeps pushing. He reminds Kizaru that Vegapunk based the Pacifistas’ lasers on his powers, and says it’s insane that they’re now trying to eliminate Vegapunk.

Kizaru says studying the Void Century is a crime—even he can’t ignore that—and he’s just following orders. Still, he admits that fighting would only hurt the World Government in the long run. He guesses CP0 failed, and Sentomaru confirms the Straw Hats got in the way.

Inside one of the warships, Saturn, flanked by Vice Admiral Doberman and a few guards, asks to keep his presence quiet as he reads the headline of the newspaper. Doberman tells him it’s Morgans’ doing, which leads Saturn to ask what’s really going on. Doberman says they haven’t heard from CP0 yet, but since Sentomaru is still putting up a fight, they’re assuming Dr. Vegapunk, his satellites, the Seraphim, the Straw Hats (who are supposedly working with Vegapunk), and the CP0 agents are all still inside the Labophase. Meanwhile, the rest of the Cipher Pol agents seem to have been locked up in the Fabiriophase by Sentomaru and his Mark III Pacifistas.

York’s betrayal

With the Frontier Dome fully active, no one can get in or out of Labophase, but there’s no way to tell what’s been happening inside for the past day. Saturn asks about the research staff and tech crew, and Doberman says they evacuated yesterday—but their ships are being tracked. Not wanting them to escape if they know too much, Saturn orders the ships sunk. Doberman also mentions that Jewelry Bonney is on the island. Even though Saturn knows she’s Kuma’s daughter, he decides she isn’t important and says to leave her.

Kizaru gets word that a signal just came in from Egghead. The Five Elders are listening in from Mary Geoise. York’s the one calling, and she immediately demands to know why they’re trying to kill her along with everyone else—especially since she’s the one who told them about Stella Vegapunk’s betrayal in the first place. Mars tells her she’s no different from the original, but York fires back, saying if she actually cared about the Void Century, she wouldn’t have told them she was interested in it.

When Nusjuro asks about CP0 and the Straw Hats, York says she’s fine—she’s the only one contacting them and still has the Seraphim. Then she brings up the fleet around the island, asking if it means war. But Ju Peter says they’ve had a change of heart—they just want her to recreate the Mother Flame.

York doesn’t know exactly who wants the weapon, but she says it’s possible to make it using the island’s power plant. She agrees to help as long as they don’t hurt her or the lab, and Mars agrees — plus he grants her request to become a World Noble. After the deal, York suddenly breaks down crying and begs them to save her from being killed by Luffy, which shocks Kizaru and the Elders.

She’s chained up with the Straw Hats (plus Bonney, Vegapunk, and Lucci) surrounding her. Zoro’s got his sword to her neck while Usopp — now un-petrified — sets up the call. Nami and Vegapunk are starting to realize how serious things are, while Luffy, a bit out of the loop, thinks they’re just gonna use York as a shield to escape. That’s when Bonney figures it out — they’re actually in a hostage situation.
