This episode could largely be seen as being in two parts. Zoro, Luffy, Lucci, and Kaku face off against S-Hawk and S-Bear and the Red Hair Pirates vs the Kid Pirates. Most of the first part of the episode is an action packed, epic fight with glorious animation. Zoro and Luffy are overwhelmed by S-Hawk, as they try to avoid his attacks while holding and moving Kaku and Lucci around. Zoro recognizes that S-Hawk is using Mr.1’s Supa Supa no Mi, Devil Fruit ability.
S-Hawk sharpens his hands like knives and attacks. He targets mostly Zoro and Kaku. The scenes is best seen than described, but neither Luffy or Zoro are clearly not fighting seriously. There’s still a gap in skill between the top Strawhat’s and the Seraphin’s. The animation switches between different 2D style’s. It could have been to much change but I found that it flowed effortlessly. Kaku asks Zoro to reconsider his stance on keeping them handcuffed.
The Strawhat’s and CP0 join forces
Shaka asks Lucci what his “mission” was? He responds that he’s suppose to kill all seven Vegapunk’s. Kaku is shocked Lucci was so honest. It a funny moment even though Lucci is serious. Luffy’s opinion on keeping Lucci cuffed changes when he hear Nami’s scream and realizes that the other Seraphim are in the lab attacking the other Strawhat’s. Zoro claims that they must “protect seven Vegapunk’s, and the other Strawhat’s.” Suddenly, S-Bear uses Ursa Shock. In preparation for the attack Luffy decides to release Lucci and Kaku.
Before he does he disrespects Lucci, telling him that he better not “attack his friends because he’s too weak to beat him (Luffy).” Luffy transforms into Gear Four: Bounce Man while Lucci transforms into his leopard form, Kaku uses his Tempest Kick: White Thunder on S-Hawk. Luffy uses Gum Gum no Kong Gun and Lucci uses Six King Pistol on S-Bear. It’s left unclear what the outcome of the fight is before we shift to Shanks and Kid.
The Red Haired Pirates and Kid Pirates clash
On the Island of the Giants, Elbaf, Shanks is in bar listen as a child begs to join his crew. Reminding us of his encounter with Luffy in the beginning of the series. He rejects the boy for being “hot-headed.” His crew suggests that boy like him can surprise the world. Before they get into it another crew member tells them that Kid attacked them. Its revealed that one of the Shanks Pirates cut off Kid’s arm. Shanks and his crew leave as they don’t want to start a war on Elbaf Island. Kid seems certain that he won’t lose to Shank’s this time.
