The final episode of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, “The Shibuya Incident – Gate Closed,” ends the epic arc with the return of fan favorite Yuta. As the Jujutsu World falls to chaos as Gojo remains sealed and Yuji is sentenced to death. Yuki Tsukumo and Geto debate the future of humanity, Yuki believes that humans should “break away from cursed energy,” but Geto believes they should “optimize cursed energy” instead. He wants to bring out humanities “potential,” but cannot do so one his own. So he seeks to by using Idle Transfiguration on two groups of people: “non-sorcerers marked are vessels,” and “those whose brains were meant to be non-sorcerers.” Geto releases a several cursed spirits as he escapes with the Prison Realm.
Tokyo becomes overwhelmed with over ten million cursed spirits. Jujutsu Headquarters debate what to do with the 5 million residents. They consider making the existence of cursed spirit public but they’re concerned that foreign countries might send their militaries. Elsewhere, a little girl is manipulated by a creepy cursed spirit that pretends to be willing to take care of the starving girl. She offers the curse something to drink and runs outside to give them a beverage. The curse spirit tries to eat the girl but Yuta appears and stabs the curse in the head with his katana. He tries to reassure the girl that she’s safe when the curse starts moving. Suddenly, Rika snatches the creature and smashes it against a nearby wall.
The five notices
The higher-ups make five notices. First, Geto is confirmed to be living and is sentenced to death. Second, Gojo is to be considered to be an “an accomplice in the incident at Shibuya and has been permanently exiled,” anyone that tries to free him will be considered a criminal. Third, Masamichi is label the instigator of the Shibuya Incident and sentenced to death. Fourth, Yuji is to be executed. Finally, Yuta is Yuji executioner. Clearly, the higher-ups are too fond of the death penalty and hand those sentences out without a trial of any sort.
