Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, Episode 15: Toji bares his fangs at Dagon

Toji Fushiguro invades Dagon’s Domain Expansion, dominating the Special Grade curse is epic fashion. In Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, Episode 15, “Fluctuations, Part 2,” Toji snatches the Playful Cloud from Maki. Armed with a weapon that relies on the raw power of the user, Toji overwhelms Dagon. He’s able to destroy Dagon’s shikigami, his water shield in one hit, and after sharpening it’s ends pierces Dagon’s head. The animation in this episode was spectacular (as we have come to expect from MAPPA), Toji running across the water, while flinging Dagon like he’s nothing.

It was noted that Toji isn’t completely himself. He’s fighting on automatic focusing exclusively on the strongest being present. After brutalizing Dagon, Toji bares his fangs at his son, Megumi. He drags a surprised Megumi outside leaving the others shocked at his power. Unfortunately, for Nanami, Maki, and Naobito they’re left to deal with Jogo. Heartbroken at the lost of his second friend (Hanami and Dagon), Jogo promises to avenge them and see them again in 100 years. He then turns his attention to Nanami, Maki, and Naobito. He places his palm on Nanami’s waist then blasts him with an explosive wave of fire.

Jogo resurrects Sukuna (for now)

He turns his attention to Maki lighting her head on fire then turns his ire towards a Naobito that tries to use Projection Sorcery to avoid Jogo’s flames, Jogo uses several cross beams of fire. I’ve seen it mentioned by others that Jogo is often seen fighting by against the Gojo (twice) and when compared to them he’s weak. Suddenly, he senses Sukuna. Nanako and Mimiko Hasaba feed a Sukuna finger to an unconscious Yuji.

Jogo recalls being told by Geto, that “if Yuji ate a finger a day for twenty days he probably wouldn’t lose control of his body to Sukuna despite devouring all twenty of his fingers, but eating ten fingers at once might temporarily force him to lose control.” He decides to force feed Yuji all ten of Sukuna’s fingers, taking advantage of the moment. Sukuna awakens. Cuts off Jogo’s arm. Sukuna’s mere presence overwhelms them and they’re unsure if they will be killed. Sukuna says to them that “they’re all holding their heads a little too high.” They all bow, with Jogo only taking a knee, as a consequence the top of Jogo’s head gets cut off.

Sukuna challenges Jogo

Sukuna asks what they want and is disgusted at the fact that the Hasaba sister dare to order him to do anything. He decapitates Mimiko and in her hysteria, cuts Nanako into little pieces. Unlike, the sisters, Jogo doesn’t want anything from Sukuna. He states that his only goal is to revive the King of curses. Sukuna is amused by Jogo and offers him a challenge. If he can land “one hit,” he would work for Geto. Jogo accepts his offer and prepares to battle.

If there’s a theme of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 15 it’s dominance. Toji over Dagon, Jogo over Nanami, Naobito, and Maki, and of course Sukuna over Jogo, Nanako, and Mimiko. I have notice in the more recent Shonen like MHA, the villains have shown greater concern for each other. Jogo, Hanami, Dagon, and Mahito have sincere affection for each other. Jogo is hurt when his friends Hanami and now Dagon are killed. Jujutsu Kaisen continues to prove to be the standard in anime. I’m excited to see the rest of this arc.
