Jinbe is able to evade the giant mecha shark, however, Chopper, Luffy, and Bonney fall into sea. Jinbe tells Franky to take over the helm and he jumps in after them. Franky uses the Sunny’s “Rabbit Screw,” ability to try to speed away from the shark and rescue the others but they’re hit by a torpedo flipping the Sunny over. Jinbei reaches the other three but doesn’t see the Sunny. Meanwhile, the mecha shark attacks them. Jinbe manages to escape with Luffy, Chopper, and Bonney after asking them to take deep breaths.
Unfortunately, the Strawhats are drowning when the shark turns its attention on them. They’re saved when a giant robot interferes. We see the G-14 branch of the Marines where we see that they reverse the mutated growth of the kids from the Dressrosa arc. Tashigi and Doll discuss Helmeppo’s request to Prince Grus, a Marine Rear Admiral, to save Koby.
Meeting Dr. Vegapunk
Elsewhere, Luffy, Chopper, Jinbe, and Bonney land on Egghead Island, a Government Island where the famous scientists Vegapunk lives. Vegapunk has been a mysterious character for a long time in One Piece, secretly engaging in science experiments for the government. He’s made uses for seastone, discovered how Devil Fruits work, discovered the Lineage Factor, and created the Pacifista and Seraphim. He’s probably one of the most dangerous and important characters in One Piece.
The other Strawhat’s are introduced to a young girl who claims to be Dr. Vegapunk. Is she his daughter? A clone? Android? Just lying? We’ll learn soon enough. The Egghead arc is just getting started, so I expect things to go slowly. The Strawhat’s have made contact with the Island and someone that’s represents the famed scientist. Will Dr. Vegapunk end up being the Strawhat’s friend or foe?
