Fern asks Frieren to choose between two outfits. Frieren is no help because she’s still sleepy. She claims that the dresses are the same and asks Fern to “tie her hair.” Pissed, Fern braids her hair “angrily.” Fern and Stark go on their date. Things are awkward but Stark notices her new outfit. They primarily discuss Frieren but they walk through the market exploring the many locations. Stark admits that he’s been taking her to places that Frieren suggests.
Fern feels that the date isn’t authentic. She’s disappointed. However, she appreciated his effort.
Fern, Frieren, and Stark head to the Nachricht Region. Fern makes use of her first-class mage status getting through the checkpoints. As they proceed through the Northern Plateau they’re surrounded by monsters. The party is depicted through a montage defeating and being defeated by various monsters. A local villager offers a vacant cabin in exchange for the trio killing a monster. Frieren agrees to kill the beast.
Meeting the monster
The next day they confront the monster. It reveals a sword and attacks. Frieren warns Fern and Stark not to “let their guard down.” Stark holds the creature back as Fern and Frieren manage to hit it with Zoltraak. Stark is concerned with the strength of the monster and Frieren warns him that there will be even stronger monsters in the Northern Plateau.
We get another flashback of the Hero Party going through a similar moment. Frieren had the same reaction to the strong monsters that Stark did. Himmel argued that, “is the exact reason why they are there, as there are a lot of people in the Northern Plateau,” and “that he became a hero not only to protect his homeland but also to protect others”. Frieren believes that they should want to explore the world and help others. Fern and Stark agree.
