I love a tournament arc, especially a team tournament arc. As I’ve stated many times, My Hero Academia has a large cast of characters. It makes perfect sense that as a result; they leave many of the heroes out. In MHA the entire Class 1-B is relegated to an afterthought. My Hero Academia Season 5, Episode 3 spends most of its time setting up the arc. We get the obligatory rosters run down of Class 1-B’s 20 students. The always annoying Neito takes center stage trumpeting that Class 1-B had “prevailed” over their Class 1-A rivals in a survey of the most popular School Festival performance by a massive 2 votes. Neito is a fun character and I’m always happy to see him even if Class 1-A isn’t.
Shinso makes his decision
Hitoshi Shinso makes his return. I confuse the classes and courses in this series. I thought Hitoshi was in Class 1-B but he’s actually was in the General Department from Class 1-C. Regardless, Shinso has decided that he wants to be a hero. Which class he joins remains to be seen, but I hope it’s Class 1-A. Unlike Kacchan, Hitoshi has always felt his Quirk was a better fit for a villain, and many of his classmates agreed. Struggling with this reality, he questioned whether he could become a hero at all. He has finally become a hero and is will to dedicate himself to helping others. Armed with a Binding Cloth like Aizawa, Hitoshi appears ready for all challenges.
Vlad explains the rules. Each class will form several teams of 4, with Hitoshi fighting twice with each class. It will require the teams to capture each other, winning once they caught four people. The first matchup is Team Asui vs Team Shiozaki. Asui’s team comprises herself, Denki, Eijiro, and Koji, while Shiozaki team comprises Jurota, Ibara, Kosei, and Shiozaki. I’m most interested in seeing what Class 1-B can do and excited to see how they stack up against Class 1-A. The first battle begins with Jurota attacking Asui and Eijiro overwhelming the two with his Beast Quirk. With Asui, Mirko, and now Jurota, it’s becoming clear that animal inspired Quirks are among the strongest and most versatile.
