It’s year 60 of the Yamato Calendar and Emperor Fuji has accepted surrender and ordered Taira Tonotsugu to Kanazawa Kaga Province. In Seii, Nagao Muuton is being beaten. He passes out from the pain. Library Bureau Assistant Librarian, Tamaki Junichi witnesses this and claims that Seii’s army is “harsh”. Elsewhere, at the Tedori River, Taira Tonotsugu and Vice-General Sugou Gou discuss the fact that there was no ambush. Taira assumes this means the surrender is genuine.

Taira doesn’t have respect for Gou, he’s annoyed how quiet he is and plans on getting ride of him if he’s granted a higher position. Tamaki arrives to report to Taira but before they cross, Gou tells them that if the cross the river, they “wouldn’t be able to make it out.” They need to scout other area’s first, then move forward. Taira isn’t interested. He argues that it would take too long and Gou might be exposed as a “pathetic figure”. Gou calls him “insolent,” and Tiara responds by calling him an idiot.

The foolish banquet

He has Vice General Gou arrested. Taira threatens to have Gou’s entire clan slaughtered. When Nagao hears that they’re coming he surprised at the advisers “incompetence,” regardless he excited to meet them. At the military camp in Seii, Hei Yayakichi and Chief Wajima Ouga are preparing for war. Wajima asks where Ryumon Mitsuhide is. She claims with him around, Seii will not know peace.

Ryumon is informed of Tiara’s foolish decision. He refuses to go to Kanazawa, as it will be “total annihilation”. At the banquet, Taira seems to be having a good time. Nagao notices that Gou is tied up and asks why. Taira claims that it’s his “hobby”. Taira tells Gou to eat and he asks for “one sugar cube”. When Nagao asks him why, he sternly responds, if he’s going to die he wants his favorite food.

The war begins

Nagao is able to deduced the dynamic between Taira and Gou. It’s to their advantage that Gou remains tied up. In Osaka, Asama Yoshitsune (Tsune) and Misumi Aoteru debate the situation in Seii. They believe that Seii will invade Yamato and attack through Okuetsu. The Seii army invades with over 70,000 troops. In the Kusuryuu Castle, Castle Commander Satou Yoshinaga and his assistant Hiraizumi Hina begin to panic as their outnumbered.

Satou and Hina discuss the fact that Taira Denki is the only one lead the army and if he’s succeeds in defeating Seii he will replace Ryumon. Fearing that, they decide that if they can hold Seii off long enough, Ryumon will return in time. Suddenly, Commander Kura Aterui arrives and calls for “one” head. Satou prepares to give his, while the rest flee but they decide to fight to the death. The war between Seii and Yamato official begins.
