The Wind Hashira Sanemia Shinazugawa and the Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro along with two low level demon slayer watch as a demon carries a woman into an abandoned castle. The four enter the castle and encounter a swarm of demons. Here the two Hashira get to show off their breathing techniques. Sanemi uses his Wind Breathing, Second Form: Claws – Purifying Wind, which destroys a horde of demons with one attack. The Wind Breathing Forms are known for being primarily offensive in nature. Obanai’s Serpent Breathing mimics the movement of snakes. This results in the users techniques bending and twisting.
After realizing that he’s facing two Hashira, the demon attempts to flee into the Infinity Castle. Obanai and Sanemi fall into the Infinity Castle and witness it’s endless wooden walls and numerous demons. The experience is a bit disorienting for the Demon Slayers who have no idea where they were. The rest of the episode focuses on the Hashira meeting. While Tanjiro recovers, the Hashira discuss the battle with the Upper Ranks. Sanemi is envious of them, as he never encounters any Upper Ranks. Both Muichiro and Mitsuri are recovering quickly according to Shinobu.
The meaning of the marks
When Amane, Kagaya’s wife, arrives she asks them to explain the “marks” that appeared during the fight with the Upper Ranks. She explain that when Muzan was almost defeated in the past all the demon slayers bore the marks. If the mark “appears on one person, it will manifest to those around them in resonance.” Mitsuri gives a comical and useless example of her experience. However, Muichiro gives a more specific example. He describes his heart rate increasing to 200 beats per minute and a body temp. that reached 39 degrees Celsius.
The main reason for the Hashira meeting is to begin training. Gyomei wants them all to be prepared for Muzan as he has now set his sights on Nezuko who resides with the Demon Slayer Corps. He proposes using retired Hashira to help them. Tengen Usui trains the slayers stamina, Muichiro teaches “high speed movement,” Mitsuri “flexibility,” Obanai “swordsmanship,” Sanemi teaches “endless striking,” and Gyomei is teaching “muscle strengthening.” So far only the lower level demon slayers are making use of the training, I will be excited to see what happens when Tanjiro and the others fair. Finally, Tamayo returns as Kasugai’s crow locates her. It explains that Shinobu Kocho has been studying “demon physiology and pharmacology,” and along with studying Nezuko, Tamayo can be of great help to the effort to destroy Muzan.
