Mordin Solus (Mass Effect 3)
Most people automatically chooses Final Fantasy 7, Aerith/Cloud death scene, but I wasn’t into the FF series at the time and had it ruined for me by friends so the impact was limited. Instead I going to choose the death of Mordin Solus from Mass Effect 3. Solus is a salarian geneticist, professor, and a former operative of the a group that created the genophage. The genophage is a “biological weapon deployed against the krogan.” In Mass Effect 3, Solus is tasked with curing the genophage.
What make his death so sad to me is that he seem to be the last person to risk his life for someone else. He seems to lack sensitivity needed to do so. However, he not only is able to reverse the genophage, he’s willing to give his life to do so. If the player heard him sing in a previous moment, he will sing “Scientist Salarian” as he dies. Furthermore, the character Eve will name her first child “Mordin” in his honor. A child that wouldn’t exist if it was for him and his sacrifice.
