3. Hawks is a double agent

My Hero Academia Season 5, Episode 2 doesn’t leave us in suspense long regarding whether hawks is a traitor. He isn’t. He’s a double agent for the Hero Public Safety Commission. After a failure to assess the actual strength of the enemy during the Kamino Incident, the commission hopes to gain more information. They send Hawks to ally with League of Villains to keep the Kamino Incident from recurring. Hawks Quirk makes him the most effective in espionage.

His Fierce Wings allows him to “distinguish sounds from the minute it changes in the air, allowing him to decode conversations and vocal information from sensing the vibrations.” If you include this with his intellect, he is the best choice. The question is, will the League of Villain by his deception? Dabi will most likely never trust him because he doesn’t trust heroes at all and a hero that will betray his own isn’t trustworthy at all.

2. The Todoroki Family is fractured

The abuse Enji Todoroki (Endeavor) inflicted on his family is well known by now. At this point in the series, we haven’t seen the effects on other members of the family. Fuyumi, Natsuo, and Shoto are having dinner. Fuyumi is excited to see her father, whereas Natsuo and Shoto are less excited to see him. However, Natsuo was angry at his father’s presence. He thanks his sister Fuyumi for the dinner and leaves. Enji stops him and asks him what his son is thinking?

Natsuo is upset that his father “suddenly” cares about his family. Enji deserves the ire of his son hurls towards at him. His treatment of his family was cruel and he will have to do more than just be present. Shoto for his part says that “while the hero part of Endeavor is being looked upon favorably, the father part of him needs work.” Shoto shares his brother’s skepticism but is more open-minded to reconciling.

1. Inside One For All

Deku wakes to find himself a passive witness to the birth of One For All. I have found the void within One For All to be confusing. Is Deku dreaming, is this a flashback, or does One For All induce this effect? My Hero Academia hasn’t explained how this works and I find it confusing. Regardless, Deku watches as All For One confronts his brother, the first user of One For All.

They argue over All For One’s abuse of his power, as he uses his Quirk to gain favor. He defends himself by claiming that “his actions are necessary for the growing Quirk society.” He transfers the fang Quirk of a man that was disowned by his family because it made him “ugly.” All For One gives it to a man that was attacked by a group of Quirk users. While All For One motive are terrible, he does “help” people (at least in this example) and it’s understandable he might generate loyalty in others.
