I had to read this chapter three times to figure out what happened. I found it a bit confusing. Crust is fighting High End Nomu in a tight cordoor. Eraser Head arrives and uses his Quirk to erase the Nomu’s Quirk. Present Mic gets into the fray. Meanwhile, Endeavor crushes a High-End Nomu’s head noting that it had “mulitple layers of bone.” Elsewhere, Mirko cracks the capsule that Tomura’s is recuperating in. His transformation is at 74%. She notes how she “instinctively knew she couldn’t let him wake up.” Dr. Kyudai yells for her to stop.
A High-End Nomu speculates that one of the heroes is negating it’s Quirks. It deduces that it’s Eraser Head and determines how his Quirk functions. The Nomu runs off, escaping Eraser head’s Quirk. The High-End is then able to use it’s Quirks. Using a combination of “Liquification” and “Rupture” it attacks the heroes. Keeping Endeavor’s attention, the other Nomu manages to grab Mirko. However, she uses her ‘Luna Arc’ to damage the capsule again, as Tomura reaches 75% completion. Endeavor crashes into Mirko, as she tells him to “finish em off.”
The capsule continues to crack and leak fluid. Both Eraser Head and Present Mic prepare to prevent Tomura from waking up. Obviously, Tomura will wake up. However, it seems unlikely that he will reach 100% at this point. With the amount of fighting in close quarters, it seems implausible. I found this chapter a little frustrating. Tomura’s capsule feels more durable that the others. Maybe it is, but it hasn’t been stated. This teasing might be enjoyable and intense for some but I found it annoying.
I agree that the chapter was definitely more on the slow side. I think it’s going to look great when animated but we need to get to the next plot development already.
Yeah, Horikoshi was milking the drama this chapter. But, the next couple chapter should be interesting, if he doesn’t cut back to Gunga Villa.
I’m certain he will cut back. He should stick with one then pivot to the other.
