I Got the Real Neat Blog Award!

I am happy to announced that I have been nominated by ospreyshire, from Iridium Eye Reviews. I always appreciate awards (who doesn’t) and ospreyshire always takes the time to comment on my posts. Anyway, the rules are as follows:

  1. Display the logo.
  2. Thank the bloggers for the award.
  3. Answer the questions from the one who nominated you.
  4. Nominate 7 to 10 bloggers.
  5. Ask them 7 questions.

  1. What is one obscure movie or anime that you know of that you wish was more popular? This is a difficult question, as my taste seems to always align with the mainstream. That said, I think the Vampire Hunter D movie would be a good choice.
  2. As some people may know, I am very vocal about film plagiarism issues (Examples: Inception stealing major concepts from Paprika or The Lion King blatantly plagiarizing several characters, scenes, and plot points from Kimba the White Lion). If some movie did some cinematic thievery, what is one original film, TV series, or anime would you not want to see ripped off at all costs? Evangelion. However, it’s probably too complicated to rip off anyway.
  3. Who is the most underrated composer in your opinion? Too be honest I only really know about popular composers and barely at that.
  4. Which country would you like to see some cinema from that’s not your homeland? Japan.
  5. What are your biggest issues with the current Hollywood scene? I think the “fear” of Disney’s dominance is overblown. They make a lot of money, but the only put out 10-16 movies a year. Out of thousands of movies each year. People act like they make everything.
  6. Finish this idea: (Name of protagonist here) would be the most interesting hero ever if…? Link (from Zelda) would be a more interesting hero if he spoke and had a personality.
  7. Who is one non-actor that should try voice acting? What kind of role(s) would they have? There’s a tennis umpire named Kader Nouni aka the Barry White of tennis. I think he would make a good narrator.

My nominees are:

My Questions:

  1. What anime from before 2020 are planning on watching?
  2. Which video game, tv show or movie are you looking forward to in 2020?
  3. Which anime genre is your favorite and why?
  4. Is there an anime or manga series that you want to give a second look?
  5. What’s your favorite anime studio?
  6. Do you read manga? Why or Why not?
  7. What’s your favorite anime arc?

  1. Hate to be “that person” and sound like a snob, but I do want to correct something. Disney comes out with a lot more than 4-6 movies a year. Last year shows they came out with 16, and they have at least 10 this year before August 2020. Even if you take out the 21st Century Fox releases, it still would have been more than 6.

    Anyway, congrats on the award!

  2. Sorry about this being the third time to comment on here, but it seems like my comments haven’t been showing up. Congrats on the award and you had some great answers. You can make a case that other anime derived things from EVA. As far as Hollywood is concerned, I don’t consider Pacific Rim to be a rip-off as some anime fans claimed. I do get concerned about Disney given all the properties they own and how monopolistic it is in the box office. Krystallina did confirm some of those suspicions with how many they release a year though.

    1. It think Disney just makes high quality products. It can halt creative freedom of some of the writer/directors (see Star Wars) but I think that how they maintain their quality.

      1. It’s fine if you feel that way. They certainly are impressive when it comes to production and marketing, but I stopped supporting that company a long time ago. I wasn’t a fan of their business practices, the racist implications of certain characters, the plagiarism they’ve done, and other factors.
