There are plenty of amazing Marvel movies (especially recently) as well as plenty of terrible ones with many in the middle. However, personally I tend to favor animation over live action movies. With an animated film you simply have a greater ability to display the superpowers and action sequences. CGI has come a long way but there’s still a lot that CGI can’t reasonably render. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is an animated Marvel film that focuses on Miles Morales/Spider-Man. Set in the “Spider-Verse,” Miles struggles to live up to the expectations of his police officer father.

Miles is bitten by a radioactive spider while in an abandoned subway painting the walls with graffiti. He returns to the station to find Wilson Fisk attempting to access parallel universes to find different versions of dead wife and son. While attempting to stop him he is attacked by the Green Goblin and the Prowler. Miles is saved by Spider-Man and gives Miles a USB drive to disable the accelerator. Together with a older Spider-Man, Gwen Stacy (Spider-Woman), Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham and Peni Parker join forces to defeat Fisk.

Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse was well received, grossing $190.2 million in the US and over $375.5 million worldwide. It has a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it also won the Golden Globe, Critics Choice Award and the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film in 2019. I highly recommend this movie to anyone and it’s definitely one of the best Marvel films.
