Otaku Orbit is now on Patreon

Otaku Orbit was created in 2013, and has steadily increased in viewership since. I’ve decided that it is time to take this to the next level. This site has expanded my already massive interest into anime, manga and video-games. I would like to increase its influence and reach a large community. I thought launching a Patreon campaign was the best way to accomplish this.

Who am I?
For those who may not know, I go by the name Jiraiyan. I have loved anime, manga and video-games and hated writing for most of my life. However, in college that all changed. My love for anime, manga and video-games has never been greater, my love of writing dramatically changed. Why? I took a English 101 course that was instructed by a professor that permitted students to write about ANYTHING we wanted as long as it fit the theme. I took this opportunity to write about anime and manga. I realized that writing wasn’t the problem but the topics were.

While attending a different college, I took a graphic novel English course. I was exposed to the complexity that can be written with the colorful and dynamic pages of comics. My appreciation for writing about these topics grew. Finally, I was taking a mostly mundane “Writing for Business” class, we were tasked with writing a blog for our finally project. I choose to write about the new video-gaming consoles (at the time).

I was surprised at how easy it was to write a blog and was inspired. I decided to begin my blog that summer. So far I have managed to amass over 90,000 views and 60,000 visitors. I have been asked to write for other sites, like the Artifice. The article I have written so far are:

  1. Mechas: Disassociation from Science Fiction
  2. The 5 Saddest Moments in One Piece
  3. Pokémon and the Animals in Captivity Debate

    What’s the goal?
I’ve decided to put in even more of an effort at blogging and hopefully I can actually make a decent living writing. I would like to engage more with a larger community. It is my hope that this community can expose me to more quality anime, manga and video-games.

  • I will write weekly reviews/recaps of the most popular shonen manga, anime
  • Previews and Reviews of Video-games
  • More in depth monthly essays
  • A miniuim of 2 posts weekly
  • Fan feedback will be critical in helping me decided which anime, manga and video games I write about.

For consistent readers of this blog nothing will change regarding content. However, you could suggests what I should write about, if become a patron. Check out my Patreon page.
